Underground Hypnosis, by Taylor Starr is one of the newer entrants in the race for being the best hypnosis book available. This book on conversational hypnosis came into being when the author accidentally stumbled upon a circle of people which practiced a very powerful form of conversational hypnosis, which they called Underground Hypnosis. This book, the author claims, has been shunned by the hypnosis community, due to the power it holds. His fact sure gives the book a few brownie points over its competitors.
There are different things that one expects out of a book on hypnosis. And not surprisingly so. This is because the topic itself is so fascinating and mystical; you cannot but expect a lot of things. This was our thinking as we started reviewing this book. We had a lot may different ideas and expectations from the book as to its contents, its techniques and most importantly its effectiveness.
The book matched up to the expectations, for a major part. However, where the book was bad, it was terribly bad, to say the least. There are a great many different good aspects of the book. For one, the book is full of fresh ideas on hypnotizing people. The ideas given in this book are radically different from those present in the other books on the subject. We were quite pleasantly surprised at the depth that the author has put into the book. The author himself is a very renowned hypnotist and has a good amount of hypnosis experience to his credit.
What the book lacks is the pace of the techniques and the complexity of the wordings of the techniques. You would often find yourself lost in the words of the book that really do not seem to make good sense to a layman.
That said, it is easily the second best book on hypnosis available today, the best being, of course, the one above.
